Flight Booked

Hello!

As well as all the festive excitement in the build up to Christmas this week - I have another very good reason to be excited beyond belief this week. I booked my one way ticket to Orlando, Florida! I was getting super stressed out while searching for a flight. They were either waaaaaay too expensive, departed from a unsuitable/Inconvenient airport or had multiple stops or connecting flights. I received an email this week from STA Travel who have partnered up with Yummy Jobs to try and give future Disney Cast members a discount on their flight & insurance. Through the site I was able to get a direct flight from Manchester Airport with Virgin Atlantic for around £400 less than the prices I had been quoted during my searches - & for the very same flight!! I just need to get my Visa & Insurance sorted now! I've been reading lots of blogs from current cast members which has been getting me very excited indeed! I am going to begin writing lists of all the things I need to do/buy.

I'm not sure If I will blog again before Christmas, so In case I don't - Merry Christmas everyone & all the best for 2011!!

December Update

Hello!

Sorry, I've kind of neglected this blog the past few weeks. But it has been a very busy few weeks in my defense. Not only did I graduate from university but I also managed to pass my driving test! (yay!) I've also been working a ton of overtime at work to try to save for next year's big adventure! That and trying to finish organizing all my Christmas shopping!

But back to Disney News, I had my phone call last week with Hannah from Yummy Jobs to discuss the next steps for me in relation to getting out to Florida. I had a list of questions that I wanted to ask Hannah, but amazingly she discussed all the issues I had questions about without me even asking! She was extremely helpful and very thorough in all the information she provided me with. I also finally got round to sending off my CRB (Criminal Background Check) form too - just got to wait a few weeks for a little sheet of paper that confirms I have no criminal record.

Yesterday I received my congratulations package from Yummy Jobs! Included was my job offer letter from Walt Disney World, along with lots of information and FAQ's including the "Disney Look". I will shortly get around to reading through that along with all the useful information provided online for me on my Yummy Jobs account. This week I have also received information from Yummy Jobs about flights and tax rebates. I cannot believe that I will be living in the sun this time next year, instead of being surrounded by frost & ice!

Next steps for me include researching health insurance, flights & waiting to be told to phone the US Embassy in London to arrange an interview to secure my US Visa. Eeeek!

Hello & welcome!

Thanks for stumbling across my blog! :D

I have been successful in my application to become a Cultural Representative for the United Kingdom at the World Showcase in Epcot in Walt Disney World, Florida. For more information on the program and to read about my experience as an applicant please click on the "Application Process" page link on the right. I have also included the key dates I encountered throughout the process to give you an idea of the timescale of the application process.

I do not think I have still fully accepted the idea that this time year I will be living and working in Florida - & working for the mouse! Sure I've told people, even if it has come out as a high pitched squeal consisting of the words "Moving", "Florida" & "Disney". I don't think it will seem real until I receive my information pack. I have my mum to thank for helping me get the job - she has been super supportive throughout & I really could not have done it without her. I have a super supportive family. :)
